First Reading

My name is Javek and my gift is to read the cards that we call taroth. Sometime ago a very trouble man came to visit me. His name was Brakun...

- "What leads you to my humble place?" – I asked him while he nervously approached. He looked at me, troubled, and I could see on his face that he was suffering for not knowing which path he should take.
- "I come looking for advice, wise mother!" – He said looking into my eyes, pleading me to help him.
- "What troubles you ma child?" –He seemed too nervous... but still he was here looking for me so I knew it had to be something bad enough for this humble peasant.
- "Well" – he said while he coughed – "Only recently mam, as I do recall, there was a thief! Aye, this be true. So I be wondering ‘who would be thieving from my own brother?’... oh... I forgot to mention that. My brother... my brother had one chicken and his favorite shovel stolen."
- "So you are coming here to know who stole it?" – I asked, trying to guess what he was looking for here.
- "Nay, because that's the thing mam! I know who stole it, y'see... I found some tracks. They were covered quite expertly if I do say so myself, but I found them I did. They led me to the other side of town to the house of my friend, Silven Viperfang."– He made a pause there as if even now he did not believe that his good friend was a thief, which probably gave him a huge amount of pain – "Silven is a good friend of I, a lizard though. He's shunned quite a bit but people learn to accept him eventually. Anyway... please, tell me what I must do!"
- "Oh child... the destiny is opening two unknown roads for ya to take, either to choose the path of friendship or the path of truth."
"Aye, that be my problem.." – He said – "Brother or friend, loyalty or truth..."
I stood and went to get my deck of tarot cards. They were there on my shelf, wrapped in their purple silk piece of cloth. I gave him the deck and told him to choose 3 cards. This way we could find out what path was the best for him to take. He picked 3 of the cards, and placed them gently on my table. I prepared myself to get the guidance from my deck, and reveal his fate... the first card was the 5 Carlin swords.
- "This card is representing some enemies in your path. Enemies willing to give you a big fight and an eminent danger of you losing, falling in shame and dishonor... it also represents the path itself, it's saying whatever path you chose now will make you loose something and bring pain to your life."
He gasped. I could see he already knew he was going to have pain, whatever decision he made. I decided to unveil the second card, to reveal more information on the wisest decision for this man.
- "The second Card is the Knight of Cups, sitting down there on Venore... it represents a challenge. The true challenge of fighting this situation inside of you and not falling. It’s an invitation, still it doesn’t show to what you are getting invited... so let’s reveal this with the third card." – I flipped the third card, and there it was, the lonely Ankrahmun queen... the queen of gold. This card represented a woman... a woman... but he wasn’t speaking about any woman at all...
- "The queen of gold... mmmm... child, is there any woman in your life?" – I asked since the reading didn’t make any sense till now to me.
- "My sister and my mother, mam. And... Well, there be one. But she is wedded to another." – He said a little sad. Apparently this woman had hurt him some time ago.
- "Was she a friend or a partner for ya? Is she a woman of wealth and richness?" – I asked.
- "She's noble, a friend mam. Nothing less, nothing more..."
- "I see..." – I said while understanding what this meant. – "Well child, this card says, for you not to fall into the disgraceful path of pain and sorrow, you need her by your side. She makes the invitation to chose. This woman you are talking about will invite you to follow the true path. Not only this child, she will bring richness into your life. The cards are not saying which of the two paths you have in mind you should take, but rather consider a third, the true path... and this woman knows what this way is. The road to the truth, she will give it to you. She has the path to avoid disgrace and even death."
- "So..." – he said- "If I stick with this woman, I shall find whether to betray my friend, or not?"
- "This woman has the true answer. Perhaps your friend has not stolen anything at all... perhaps this woman knows the truth behind this thief. That’s why you need to see her, to understand the true way. Otherwise, just limiting yourself on these 2 paths will bring you pain, sorrow and disgrace."
- "Thank you mam." He said as he placed some gold coins on my table. He bowed and went away... perhaps one day he will come back and tell me what was of him after my advice... I do see on the starts tonight, wherever that peasant did; he found truth, love and richness. I hope he is happy with it.
