Hello

This is the official thread for Tibia RP’s current competition which celebrates our very first birthday which we had just several days go! But this isn’t just one competition, oh no. This is several small competitions rolled into one … and you also have the chance to win a grand prize too! :wink:

The separate competitions are listed below along with a brief explanation of how they work. Click on the competitions name and you'll be taken to its special thread which has slightly more information.

Tibia RP will also be having a birthday party to announce the winners, you can check the thread with all the information here. You don't have to come, we'll still post the winners on the forums of course .. but it's a good chance to win some prizes and have some fun!

Short Story Competition – Write a short story with the theme/subject being ‘Roleplaying in Tibia’. It’s up to you to choose how you write about that but please keep in mind that the story should be no longer than 1,500 words! Of course, a little bit over that limit is OK .. but not too much!
Prize: Grey Tome

Artwork Competition – Submit some art which is based on Tibia and created by you! It must be clearly based on Tibia and you’ll have to send a short description along with it too. Artwork can be drawn, painted, created or could even be something from Tibia (eg: parcel castle.)
Prize: Yellow Rose

Picture Telling Competition – Create a scene using Tibian screenshots! You can have as many slides as you want but the entries won’t be judged on how big they are; they’ll be judged on originality and the story. The theme/subject must be ‘Roleplaying in Tibia’.
Prize: Wolf Whistle

Quiz – Answer several questions about Tibia, roleplaying, fansites and Tibia RP and then sends the answers to us. Whoever scores the most points wins! If there are more than three winners, a lottery will be created using TibiaLottery to narrow it down to three.
Prize: One rune with 99 charges of your choice!

Free Lottery – Want a chance to win a free item .. and do basically no work for it?! Well then make sure you enter our free lottery! All you have to do is give us a brief definition of what roleplaying is for you and you’ll be entered into the lottery.
Prize: Jewel Case & a rune with 99 charges of your choice

The winner of each competition will be entered into another lottery at TibiaLottery.com and the winner of that lottery wins the grand prize of Hand Puppets! So winning a competition doesn’t only win the prizes listed, but you also have the chance to win another prize too.

The competition as a whole will end on June the 1st! Staff, moderators, etc. are allowed to enter. You can also send as many entries as you want for each competition except the Free Lottery and Quiz. Only your first number/submission will be accepted for those two.

CM Ogrey has volunteered to judge for two competitions; Artwork Competition and Picture Telling Competition.

All the winners will win a special forum title!

I'll be trying my hand at a couple of them.

When do the art and short story contests end? I really want to enter, but I have a very busy few weeks ahead of me.

I don't want to be picky, but a 1000 words story is something hard to write. You have to actually count how many words there are in the paper, and that is going to be troublesome for judges and competitors alike.
Now, a story with a maximum of ~5000 characters is pretty easier to write, as there are scripts that show you how much characters you have writen to a point, and it is much easier to cut out exceeding parts, as 30 words may be a few lines, while 30 characters can be removed by changing words and reworking phrases.

Microsoft Office and its free alternative Open Office both have excellent word counting tools. I'd suggest that, if your program doesn't do word counting, that you simply download Open Office; their word processor is, from my experience, just as good as if not better than Microsoft Word.

I guess that is it, then. Thanks for the programs, by the way, my MS Word is quite outdated.
